Ryme Minista nominated for a YVA

Starz Plus recording artiste Ryme Minista is moving full speed ahead with his career. The talented deejay, who hails from Montego, is clearly the leading dancehall artistes in Western Jamaica.

Ryme Minista was recently nominated in the 'Favorite Breakout Artiste For 2014' category of the popular Youth View Awards (YVA).

"I am very grateful for this Youth View Awards nomination. It's really nice to know that the organisers of this prestigious awards show have recognised my work. This is a positive sign for all the artistes in the west," he said.

According to Ryme Minista, he is not worried about winning the award. "I'm not worried about winning the award, just being nominated proves that I am a winner. I want to big up all the other nominees in the Favorite Breakout Artiste category. If I win, I will be very happy and even if I don't, I'll still be happy," he said.

It has long been Ryme Minista's desire to enter the mainstream of the local music industry. Last year, he achieved that goal by delivering a number top-class performances at major events including Reggae Sumfest, Sting and GT's Christmas Extravaganza.

"Based on the response I'm getting, I can tell that my career has definitely grown to a new level. Performing on shows like Sting and GT's Christmas Extravaganza has proven this to me. Every song I did at these shows got a great response. When I performed at Sumfest, a lot of people thought the audience reacted to me positively because I am from Montego Bay. Now they know that they were wrong," said Ryme Minista.
