Kingston City Run for March 15

After a hugely successful race last year, organisers of Kingston City Run (KCR) are promising an even bigger and better event in 2015.

Runners from across the island and all over the globe are expected to converge on the Corporate Area on Sunday, March 15, where they'll participate in one of the most scenic and exciting runs the country has to offer.

Since the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA) began hosting the event three years ago, KCR has become recognised as one of the island's premier races and this year, the JHTA is looking to build on that legacy as it partners with Running Events and MyLaps for the 2015 staging.

Extremely popular

In addition to its staple 5K and half marathon, KCR has added a 10K contest to its schedule of activities. Although 5Ks have become extremely popular in Jamaica, race organisers wanted to provide participants with more options as many runners are looking to try out longer distance events, which put their strength and endurance to the ultimate test.

"Over the past two years, we have received several requests about doing a 10K," says Nicola Madden Greig, co-chair, Kingston City Run organising committee.

"We believe this is a great opportunity for participants to be challenged at another level while still enjoying all the fun the event has to offer," she explained.

In its bid to continuously grow and develop, KCR recently inked a deal with Running Events, the island's leading race planners, and MyLaps, an internationally recognised timing system.

Running Events will be on board to coordinate the course, carefully planning and organising the route.

With their expertise, KCR will not only chart a colourful path through the vibrant capital's historic sites and major landmarks, but will also provide safe and secure passage for its competitors.
