W ith captain Javaun Waugh sidelined with a knock for today's game, and top striker Micheal Seaton ruled out for the remainder of the tournament with an injury, Junior Flemmings has been promoted to the captaincy and has been handed the responsibility of providing the goals the young Boyz need to hopefully turn their fortunes around.

Flemmings, the Jamaica College Manning Cup top scorer and captain, told STAR Sports that none of this is new to him and he's sure the team will make this game against Panama tonight the turning point of their tournament.

"This is nothing new, I was born a leader. But from day one, I have been telling the guys that we have one captain, but there are 11 leaders on the pitch, so everyone has to look up to everyone, and that way, teamwork makes the dream work," he reasoned.

National senior team representative, Michael Seaton, was expected to lead the offence and provide the goals, but bad knee has ruled him out for eight weeks. With him out, the team has struggled in attack.

Flemmings has been the team's most productive player so far, providing the cross for Donja Smith to score the first goal against Trinidad, before scoring the equaliser from a free kick in added time, and he's ready to step up, even more, to help the team recover from their poor start.

'Yes (I am ready to step up), definitely. I think this is our turning point to really turn things around and really do what we came to do. We just have to deliver,' he said.

Flemmings also revealed that the players had a meeting and discussed what needs to be done. Fans can expect a much better performance tonight.
