A St Catherine man who was held with more than 40 pounds (18.14 kilograms) of ganja was ordered to pay $59,800 or spend three months in prison.

He is Bijan Mobhair of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

When the matter came up in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday, Mobhair pleaded guilty to possession and dealing in ganja.

He was fined $15,000 or 30 days for possession and $44,800 or three months for dealing in ganja.

The court heard that in early December last year, Mobhair was held by police personnel in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

After he was searched, ganja weighing 44 pounds (19.95 kilograms) was found in his possession.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of and dealing in ganja.
