A man who was caught in a motor vehicle 90 minutes after it was stolen is to be sentenced on February 27.The alleged thief is Skeffrey Wright, 30-year-old labourer of Innswood Village, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

When the matter came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, his lawyer, Earl Hamilton, made a successful application that the charge of larceny of motor vehicle be changed to receiving stolen motor vehicle.

Hamilton told the court that his client was naïve and was tricked by the mastermind, but was honest with investigators from the onset.

After Wright pleaded guilty to the lesser offence, his bail was extended until the sentencing date.

The court heard that on July 13, 2012, about 3 a.m., the accused was held in a 2002 Toyota Hiace, valued at $900,000, in Bog Walk, St Catherine.

Investigations by the police revealed that the vehicle was stolen in Sydenham Villa about 1:30 that same morning.

Wright was subsequently charged by the police and has made numerous court appearances since.
