![]() file - Jamaica's Sunshine Girls. No Paula Thompson, but the Sunshine Girls look to win series against England tonight Jamaica's Sunshine Girls will have to do without midcourt warrior Paula Thompson, who is out due to an ankle injury, but coach Minneth Reynolds has no doubts that her girls will bounce back from Sunday's defeat to England to close out their three Tests Supreme Ventures Sunshine Series tonight. Thompson will be replaced by Nicole Dixon, who will spend the eve of her 25th birthday trying to fill the shoes of the veteran centre. Jamaica and England - two storied netball foes, will resume their rivalry tonight at 7:30 p.m. inside the National Indoor Sports Centre, locked on one game apiece - this after the Brits answered with a 55-47 win on Sunday, following the hosts' 56-47 win in Saturday's opener. Sunday's game was cut short with less than two minutes left on the play clock after a power outage. Reynolds said the locals have identified the issues that led to Sunday's loss and are determined to correct their mistakes and secure a series win. "We made a few errors but it's nothing that we cannot fix and so we are going fix them come Tuesday (today) and win the game," Reynolds said. "We have to go for the win. We have no other choice and we are going all-out in attack and defence." "We were certainly off in many areas because we were off in defence, in attack and in our shooting, but I know that come Tuesday, it will be a whole new ball game because we will be ready to go out win the series," Reynolds said. Romelda Aiken, who came off the bench in game two, top scored for the Jamaicans with 18 goals from 26 attempts is expected to lead the Sunshine Girls' attacking unit. She is expected to receive support from fellow attackers Jhaniele Fowler and Shanice Beckford. Khadijah Williams will marshal the midcourt while captain Nicole Aiken-Pinncok and Stacian Facey will lead their defence. Meanwhile, England's coach, Anna Mayes, said her team is full of confidence heading into today's deciding game following her team's comfortable victory in game two. "We want to carry this momentum over into game three," said Mayes. "We know it is going to be tough, but I am confident my girls can go out and win the deciding game for us. She added: We have to be patient when we are in possession of the ball and not throw it away and we have to shut down their attackers and make it difficult for them to get into the rhythm." Jo Harten, who top scored for the English girls with 39 goals from 43 attempts will again lead their attacking unit. She is expected to receive support from the vastly experienced goal attack Pamela Cookey. |
