Rivoli's rising goalscoring sensation, Cory 'Buju' Burke, could be a Waterhouse player within the next 24 hours, according to sources close the the club.

It has been revealed that the Rivoli hitman, who is second in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) goalscoring table, behind Craig Foster with 10 goals, signed for the Drewsland-based outfit, immediately after his team's 4-0 defeat to Waterhouse on Sunday.

However, the source denied that this was so, but acknowledged that the 23-year-old has shown strong interest to represent the Drewsland club, and has actually trained with the beaten RSPL finalist on Monday. Burke is expected to sign no later than today, our source indicated.

However, when contacted, Rivoli's coach Calvert Fitzgerald, said he knew nothing of the transfer regarding his top player and goalscorer. He expressed total shock at the news.

"It's the first I am hearing anything like this," the surprised Fitzgerald told Star Sports.

"Nobody said anything to me, he (Burke) didn't indicate anything to me and we have a fairly good relationship, because I am one of the person who has worked to bring him up to this level. So, if he is doing something like that, I would expect him to say something to me. So, I don't know what is happening," added the coach.

Fitzgerald said losing their talisman at this stage of the season would be a big loss for both the team and spectators, who adore their star striker.

However, he says if the rumours are true, there is nothing to do but move on. "We just have to move on and try to develop another player; because, what else can we do? We don't have much money and this (transfer) I think is actually boiling down to money (they can give the player).

I can't say too much before I have all the information, but, from he has been spotted in (Waterhouse) training, I suppose that it is actually so," he added.
