LIVINGSTON SCOTT, STAR Writer Jamaica's under-20 football captain, Javaun Waugh, was confident that he and his team will get all the elements right ahead of tonight's opening game of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championships at the National Stadium. The Jamaicans beat Cuba 2-0 in a warm-up friendly at the Drewsland mini-stadium on Saturday, but Waugh's performance, and that of the team, did not endear them to the fair-sized crowd that turned out to support the young Boyz. "I think we can keep the ball a bit more, that's all we need to do," he noted after the game. "I need to do a lot more in terms of tackling and passing, so there is a lot more room for improvement for me. I am sure we can get it right, and I'm positive that I will get it right before the tournament," he added. Gained experience The 19-year-old, the son of veteran Harbour View defender, Clifton Waugh, said the experience the team gained at the Simon Bolivar tournament in Venezuela recently was invaluable. Since returning, their aim has been to work hard at improving and he believes the team has all it takes for a successful championship. "For some of the players that (Simon Bolivar tournament) was their first international experience, but we got the experience, and we came back, and we have been training and preparing hard, and we are ready to go," he said. "We have a great chance, especially because we are at home, and we will have our people behind us, so we expect a great tournament and we are positive that we can make it to the World Cup. Look out for us we are coming," he added.
