SHAYNE FAIRMAN, STAR Writer National football heroes, Ricardo 'Bibi' Gardner Walter 'Blacka' Boyd, and Gregory Messam have confirmed their participation in the Kuratie Gordon Memorial charity football match, scheduled for the Duhaney Park football field this Saturday starting at 4 p.m. The game is being held to honour Kuratie Gordon, who died tragically in a motorcycle accident in 2012. Kuratie Gordon was the son of legendary Jamaica and Boys' Town footballer, Herbert 'Digo' Gordon, who died last year. The memorial is being organised by George 'Moosie' Lee, who is a Wolmer's old boy and returning resident. He is hoping to donate funds to Kuratie's son. Tribute "This event is a tribute to my friend Kuratie Gordon, who died in 2012. The proceeds will go to assisting (Kuratie Gordon's) son through school and hopefully contribute to community development projects," the organiser said. Saturday's football match will feature a star-studded line-up with the likes of reggae singer Chris Martin, and Waterhouse FC ace midfielder Vincent Earle. Lee will also take the field as part of a select team, coached by his father, George Lee, sr. "Last year was big and we are expecting a bigger turnout Saturday," he said, while adding that Saturday will be ideal to accommodate a bumper turnout, given names like Gardner, Boyd, and Gregory Messam confirmed to be playing. Besides the football extravaganza, there will be free entertainment, with an after party featuring artistes like Ward 21 and Tifa. There will be free food and refreshments provided at the venue also. The Lee family is hoping to make the event an annual one with the ability to fund itself and contribute positively to the lives of Duhaney Park residents.
