Man with female aliases gets jail time

A man, who uses the female alias' 'Cindy' and 'Boobie', was sentenced to one month in prison when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Pleading guilty with explanation to stone throwing, abusive and calumnious language and disorderly conduct is Kemar Jones of no fixed address.

According to reports, on November 8, around 8:30 a.m., the police were summoned to the Shoe Maker gully in New Kingston, when they saw the accused and another man involved in a dispute which escalated into a fight.

According to the police, the accused is a repeat offender and during the dispute the accused began behaving boisterously, which caused people to gather in the vicinity.

The officer reported that he tried to quell the situation, but was unsuccessful.

Bottle broke

The men started throwing stones and bottles which hit on a section of a chain link fence and the bottle broke into splinters, which hit the policemen on the lower section of their bodies, but they were not injured.

At the time of the incident, the police were unable to arrest the accused because he was behind the chain link fence and used the Shoe Maker gully to escape.

However, on December 30, the accused was arrested and placed into police custody in relation to a murder which occurred in the New Kingston area, he was subsequently charged.

After the allegations were read, Jones told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, "your Honour, I will just plead guilty because dem (police) already tell me seh dem ago keep me cause them seh dem a investigate me fi murder."

Jones was sentenced to 30 days in prison on all charges, which are to run concurrently.
