Man on fraud rap to face court next month

A mention date for early next month was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday in a matter involving a man implicated in the possession of criminal property.

Charged with forgery, possession, uttering and obtaining forged documents, conspiracy, possession of criminal property and engaging in a transaction involving criminal property is Jermaine Green.

The Crown is alleging that on November 4, last year, the complainant visited the Flying Squad and made a report that her crashed 2007 motor vehicle had been cloned. She then visited the Cross Roads Tax Office to carry out a partial transfer and was told the vehicle was no longer in her name.

On December 19, investigators from the Flying Squad saw a motor vehicle matching the description of the complainant's vehicle and accosted a man entering it. He was questioned and his story proved conflicting.

The vehicle was searched and a number of motor vehicle documents were retrieved from the vehicle. His premises was also searched and another motor vehicle was seen with signs of tampering to the firewall, which was also seized.

The Crown added that on December 20, the police received information that men were seen removing registration plates from a white vehicle in downtown.

When the vehicle was examined, documents recovered from suspects matched the same motor vehicle that the men were seen removing the registration plates from.

Green is to return to court on February 4.
