Sean's team responds to DEATH THREAT

A meeting involving Headline Entertainment, which is responsible for booking Sean Paul, is to be held in short-order following a death threat the Grammy award-winning artiste received ahead of his New Year's Eve concert in Maldives.

"It's a matter of hours now since we have been made aware of it so we will be meeting soon to discuss it," said Jerome Hamilton of Headline Entertainment yesterday.

Hamilton further said that it is likely that the meeting would include the artiste and that there were no feelings of fear following the threat.

"It is a team. So, everything with Sean is a team. So, as a team, we're going to address it. There is no particular feeling to be honest. Something that we have seen as a report and something we want to investigate," he pointed out.

The threat was made in a more than two-minute video with the logo of the Bilad Al Sham Media (BASM) group, that was posted on the video-sharing website YouTube. The group claims to consist of Maldivian jihadists with links to Syria.

A cloaked figure in the video holds up title cards blasting the celebration of New Year's Day and Valentine's Day, and likens anyone who goes against Islamic beliefs and culture to Satan.

"Sean Paul, who is joining from abroad in celebration of year-end 2014, and the beginning of 2015, is a major disbeliever. We will not welcome or tolerate the destruction of such cunning men anymore. Hence disbelievers, Sean Paul, who are like the worst of devil's advocates, deserves nothing but death," some of the translation attached to the video reads, followed by a picture of the artiste.

"Sean Paul, if you visit the Maldives, the world will see your burned and blood-drenched dead body," it continued.

The invitation to the island nation, located in the Indian Ocean-Arabia area, was made by the government's tourism department.
