Gareth Henry and Kathryn Wynter won the men's singles and women's singles titles, respectively, at the All Jamaica Seniors and Masters Championships that ended last Monday night at the Constant Spring Golf Club auditorium.

Henry retained the title when he beat Canada-based Dayvon Reid 21-12 and 21-19. Wynter was crowned champion following victory against Ruth Williams, 16-21, 21-19 and 21-18 on Sunday.

In the mixed doubles final, Gareth teamed with sibling Geordine Henry and the pair defeated Christine Leyow-Mayne and Dayvon Reid, 21-16 and 21-17.

Gareth won a third title when he paired with Garron Palmer to beat Shane Wilson and Tremar Barham, 21-18, 21-19. Dave Thompson won the masters men's final when he got past Hua Cao, 21-17, 16-21 and 21-9.

In the men's masters doubles final, Dave Thompson and Dalton Reid had a walkover win against Robert Richards and David Thomas. President of the Jamaica Badminton Association (JBA), Robert Richards, said that the championship was affected by injuries and the chikungunya virus.

"It took a toll on some players. The virus affected the sport," Richards told Star Sports. "However, there were good performances, especially in the masters. We have seen development in the sport and will continue to push hard."

He thanked the media and sponsors such as the Sports Development Foundation, WATA, Spartan Health Club and Spa, Lan-Integrators Limited, Zip Technology, National Commercial Bank and Tru Juice.
