DJ seeks DNA for 7-y-o

Claims child's mother cheated with his cousin

Today, we continue with our buzzworthy feature, Paternity Puzzle.

The Paternity Puzzle feature attempts to help families solve paternity disputes. One lucky person, each month, will get a free test and reveal the truth once and for all.

This and every Wednesday, we publish the story of a mother and a suspected father who will both give their sides in tales of allegation and denial.

Be sure to follow the series as THE STAR awards a free DNA test, sponsored by Caribbean Genetics, to the most interesting story for the month.

A part-time taxi-operator and disc jockey, John Brownis hoping to be selected as the winner of this month's Paternity Puzzle as doubt looms whether the seven-year-old boy had by 27-year-old Janet Palmerbelongs to him.

Brown met Palmer in 2006, when she was a barmaid and as fate would have it, love grew between them and a relationship was formed. A year after being together, Palmer became pregnant.

Their relationship took a turn for the worse when Brown discovered that Palmer was seeing his cousin during the time they were together. According to Brown, who says he is no longer in a relationship with Palmer, doubts began creeping in when he made the discovery.

Brown: "I don't really know if is mine. During the time, she was talking to my cousin. Is that drop in why I don't really know. It's not like she was around me when she say she was pregnant."

Palmer: "I was seeing somebody else but the child resembles him."

When Brown was questioned if he wanted the child to be his, he seemed uninterested, explaining that children were expensive and that his father was already looking after the child.

Brown: "If is mine is mine, if is not mine is just not mine. Pickney kind of hard to mind right now. Anything it will be, it be. My father mind it up till now. I give him things, but I really don't know if it is mine."

Palmer: "I want the result to be that the child is his".

Palmer explained that the child is in Brown's name, but according to him, the child looks nothing like him.

Palmer: "The child has everything for him."

Brown: "Him favour him mother. Him have everything for him mother. He has nothing for me. If is looks alone that child wouldn't be mine."

According to Palmer, nobody in her community knows whether the child belongs to Brown. For him, there are persons within his community who believes it is his and those who do not.
