Fingerprint taken for accused killer

A man accused of stabbing another to death was granted bail when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with murder is 25-year-old Ian Lugg, of a Wellington Street, Kingston 16, address.

Allegations are that on November 20, a man and the accused were involved in an argument along a Kingston 16 thoroughfare. During the argument, a fight developed in which the accused allegedly used a knife to stab the man. He was then taken to the Kingston Public Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Lugg, along with his attorney, reportedly turned himself in at the Elletson Road Police Station on November 26. He was subsequently arrested and charged for the offence.

The court heard that the man was allegedly armed with a piece of board and was reportedly pursuing Lugg during the dispute, supposedly stating that he is going to 'done him'.

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey granted the accused man bail in the sum of $350,000 with surety. A fingerprint order was also made against him. He is to return to court on February 10, pending an outstanding post-mortem report.
