Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A man who allegedly chopped another to death and dumped the body in bushes is to be tried on Thursday, December 18.

Dead is Copeland Coburn, 70, of Trafalgar district, St Catherine.

Accused of murder is Czar Nairne, 29-year-old labourer of Trafalgar district, Bog Walk, St Catherine.

When the case was mentioned in the St Catherine Court on Monday, it was revealed that the forensic certificate is outstanding as a result, it was postponed.

Allegations are that on March 3, 2013, Nairne and Coburn had a dispute over a piece of land.

The argument escalated into a physical confrontation during which Nairne used a machete to chop Coburn to death.

Coburn's body was found two days later in bushes. An investigation by Detective Constable Jimmy Barnett resulted in Nairne being charged with murder.

He is being represented by attorney-at-law Sean Kinghorn.
