A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a person under the age of 16.

He is also being investigated for harbouring a ward of the State.

Reports are that about 3:30 p.m. last Friday, police personnel swooped down on an address in the Rosemount community in St Catherine.

The suspect was caught inside the house having sex with the child.

Both parties were taken to the police station in Linstead.

Further investigations by the police revealed that the teenager escaped from the centre about three weeks ago.
