Injury from coconut costs man $10,000

A man was fined $10,000 or six months' imprisonment yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, after he used a coconut to cause injury.

Charged with unlawful wounding is Keno Bailey.

The accused pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court was told that Bailey used a coconut to hit the complainant in his head.

Bailey said, "Your Honour. I saw the man taking something from his waist and was moving towards my cousin, so I took up the coconut and throw it at him."

Bailey's fingerprints were also taken.
