Mechanic accused of having sex with a minor

An auto mechanic who was is charged with having sex with a person under the age of 16 was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court on Tuesday. The 37-year-old accused was offered bail following a successful application by attorney-at-law Shantez Stewart.

He told RM Llyle Armstrong that his client has secured an alternative address from where he lived prior to the allege incident.

Bail was offered on condition that he report to the May Pen police station weekly and keep away from the complainant for the duration of the case.

Allegations are that on November 6, police personnel caught the accused having sex with a 14-year-old girl inside a vehicle on a farm outside Spanish Town.

He was taken in custody and following an investigation by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offence and Child Abuse, he was charged. The matter is scheduled to be mentioned in February 2015.
