Terri Salmon joins Bashment Granny 3

Award winning actress Terri Salmon has joined the cast of 'Bashment Granny 3'.

Salmon is a darling oflocaltheatre, having shared the stage with anumber of local and international productions, alongside some of the best known and loved Jamaican actors.

However, some of her peers intraditional theatre have been thumbing their thespian noses at her move into mainstream theatre.

"I have heard a few rumblings ... but I feel privileged and honoured to be part of the Bashment Granny family. I am here ordained by God, at this time in mytheatrical career, and I embrace this opportunity with open arms," Salmon said.

Terri has won several awards during herstoried career, capturing the Actor Boy Award twice, forBest Actress in a Supporting Role, for her role in Karl Hart's Dem Good Ole Days in 2001 and Basil Dawkins' For Better or Worse in 2009.

That is the reason several members of the theatrical fraternity feel that she may be slumming it, by working with the bawdy cast of Bashment Granny 3, that caters to less refined tastes. She waves off the criticisms.

"I don't see it that way. Every theatre practitioner should endeavour to do this kind of mainstream theatre."

"It is successful, and it is globally appreciated. I embrace this theatre. It is the most popular kind of theatre, and it is interactive, energetic, and crowd-pleasing. Why would I not want to do it?" she asked.

She plays anintegralrole in the third instalment of the box office juggernaut, which opens on December 19.

"I had often wondered if I would ever get the chance to work the stage with Shebada and when I got the call from Bunny (Allen), I just felt this move was ordained."

"I have found working with Shebada to be a great learning experience. He is willing to share his knowledge, and for that, I am truly grateful," she said.
