|
A man and woman were hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after they allegedly failed to declare funds while coming into the island. Charged with conspiracy and failing to declare cross-border movements of funds are Denis Jackson and Melicia Hickey. Jackson was offered bail in the sum of $200,000 and ordered to surrender his travel documents, while Hickey had her bail extended. The Crown led evidence that on December 1, both accused arrived at the airport coming from New York. Both persons indicated that they each had US$10,000 and declared the sum. However, it is alleged that a sum of money was found in pieces of luggage belonging to both accused that had not been declared. The prosecution said that the case file was incomplete and that more time was needed. They are to return to court later this month when it is expected that the file will be completed. |
