![]() Shereita Grizzle, STAR Writer She considers herself a creative individual and says music has always been something she hoped to pursue professionally. Her stage name is Sattin and although she remains relatively unknown in the entertainment industry, the young entertainer says she is working hard to turn her career around in 2015. Listing 'the Queen of Dancehall', Lady Saw as one of her main influences, Sattin says she prefers doing hardcore dancehall music and even though she has only been involved in the industry professionally for two years, believes she has what it takes to make it all the way to the top. "I see my music career excelling beyond my expectations," she expressed. "There are no limits. I want to be a part of my country's rich musical legacy, up there with the great dancehall legends, Lady Saw, Shabba, Bounty Killer and more." The up-and-coming entertainer already has numerous singles in rotation on Internet radio but says she wants to go further. She also admitted that getting a break in the local industry is something you have to be persistent about. "None of my songs are getting airplay on local radio stations but I will continue to work on it," she said. "You just have to be determined and set yourself up with the right people before the doors start opening." Well aware of the difficulty female entertainers face in the industry Sattin says she hopes her talent will be enough to earn her respect and recognition. "I want to continue the legacy of showcasing dancehall to the world and I hope to be appreciated and recognised for my talent and nothing else," she added. Though she is not currently signed to any major label, the young dancehall artiste has hopes of working with some of the most acclaimed producers in the industry such as Sly and Robby, Rvssian and Suku from Ward 21. She is also eyeing some major record labels listing Justus Records, Notnice and So Unique among those she would like to record for. shereita.grizzle@gleanerjm.com |
