Accused NHT fraudster granted $150,000 bail

Bail in the sum of $150,000 was granted to one of two persons alleged to have used fraudulent documents at the National Housing Trust (NHT) recently.

Charged with forgery, uttering forged documents and conspiracy to defraud is Daron Taylor, an employee at Tax Administration Jamaica. He was arrested on Monday along with Shaneka Deleon, otherwise called 'Chelsea McKoy', a sales clerk of a Kingston 3 area.

Deleon did not appear in court on Friday.

The Crown is alleging that sometime in 2006, the accused and a Chelsea McKoy applied jointly for a mortgage. The NHT informed Taylor that he and McKoy should attend the office.

Taylor visited the NHT with 'McKoy' and while conducting the transaction, the loans officer became aware that the photograph of McKoy on the file was different from who she had seated before her.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked an officer of the court if the female arrested had signed any document to which the officer stated that the "new Chelsea", signed documents and produced a driver's licence.

Taylor was ordered fingerprinted and will return to court on Wednesday.
