A St Catherine man who allegedly robbed a male student of a Blackberry cellular phone and ripped his uniform was remanded when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

He is John Stewart, unemployed, of Bridgeport in Portmore in the parish.

The court heard that on November 17, 2014 the complainant, a student of Bridgeport High School, was walking past the accused. He reportedly grabbed the student by his collar and took away the cellular phone.

The accused cried out for help and alerted a passing police vehicle and Stewart was held.

He was subsequently charged with robbery with violence following an identification parade.
