Robert 'Danger' McCarthy, the mixed martial arts fighter, who announced his retirement after being knocked out by Aruba's Evan Nedd in September, is coming out of retirement to fight in Martinique on November 29.

McCarthy is leading a team of three fighters who will do battle in the cage at the WIFC4 MMA tournament at the Stade Louis Achille. Also among the contingent is McCarthy's brother Oneil and Warren Garvey. The other two fighters are taking their fights on short notice as replacements for fellow Jamaicans Matthew Colquhoun and Cleon Bardowell who opted out of their fights because of other commitments.

McCarthy will be facing Christophe Picaut from Paris in the 185lb class, while his brother Oneil will take on Roberto Wingrad from Guyana at 155 pounds. Wingrad was down to have fought Bardowell. Garvey will take on Jonas Ambrose who was to have fought Colquhoun. That fight will be at 185 pounds.

McCarthy said he is in much better shape now that he is back home after spending a few months training in New Jersey prior to the Nedd fight that he lost via a first-round knockout. He said his brother's decision to come back home from Trinidad where he had been living for the past two years, helped him make up his mind to fight once again.

"He gave up a lot to come back home and train with me," McCarthy said.

Citing weight as one of the reasons for his KO loss in September, McCarthy said he is now more comfortable at 185 and feels a lot more confident going into this next fight.

The fighters leave today for Saint Maarten where they will overnight before travelling to Martinique tomorrow.
