A Jamaican woman, a repeat offender, was sentenced to four and a half years in the UK after she was caught with cocaine and heroin worth thousands of pounds, THE STAR has learnt. Carol Dixon, 51-year-old, was caught in possession of large quantities of the narcotics in Powis Place, Aberdeen, in March 2014. According to www.northsound1.com, The High Court in Edinburgh heard that she was given bail, but she was then caught carrying smack and coke in the city's Market Street in June 2014. THE STAR gathered that Dixon, a prisoner of HMP Grampian, had pleaded guilty to drug offences at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow in October. Sentence had been deferred in order for the court to obtain reports about her character. On Friday, the court heard that Dixon had pleaded guilty to the offences at the earliest opportunity and was receiving counselling in prison for mental health problems. The court also heard that Dixon had a previous conviction in Jamaica for which she served 18 months' hard labour. Passing sentence, judge Lady Rae told Dixon: "Illegal drugs bring so much misery into our communities." - A.W. |
