Breakthrough in carjacking ring |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer The police in St Catherine said they have made a breakthrough in a carjacking ring, seized three guns and shot three men, two fatally during an incident in the parish yesterday. Dead are 17-year-old Jerome Collins, otherwise called 'Taj', of Paul Mountain, Kitson Town and 18-year-old Chris Taylor of March Pen Road, Spanish Town, both in St Catherine. Reports are that about 9 p.m., the police intercepted a group of gunmen travelling in a vehicle in Paul Mountain district. The men were signalled to stop, but the occupants started to shoot at the police. During exchange of gunfire the men were hit and three handguns seized. Meanwhile, the police have described the capture of the men as a breakthrough as in recent times, persons including police officers have been robbed of their vehicles. The Independent Commission of Investigations have since started a probe into the matter. |
