Beauty queen cursed online

Said to have dissed JA

Former Miss Jamaica World First Runner-Up Rosina Casserly endured much abuse on the Internet on Wednesday, after a video was released of the beauty telling foreign media house Physique TV that persons should visit Jamaica, where they can get the experience of being poor.

She also made fun of the country's economic problems and the chikungunya virus outbreak. "I am not singing Bob Marley, I am not doing it. Oh my gosh! In Jamaica they have chik-V, ever heard about that?" she laughed.

"It's like a disease where you get arthritis, and they made a song about it; terrible, but that's the only thing that's going on there right now. You get bitten by a mosquito - you like hobble for like three days. We also have no money, come to Jamaica, you can be poor! What else can happen if you go to Jamaica? Escaping from a robbery," she giggled.

The busty beauty also said Jamaica is not an easy place. She claimed, however, that the people have soul, know how to have fun and love to dance, sing and party.

Several Jamaicans on social media found Casserly's comments very distasteful and took to Physique's personal Facebook page to express their digust.

"Why didn't you highlight some positives instead of the negatives? This was not even funny," one commented.

Another posted: "I've lived here 20 years, born and grown, and I have never been robbed. Gunmen don't kill people for no reason. You all have so much to say about Jamaica - I am certain less than 50 % of you people commenting negatively never visited here. So I am standing up for all the positives our country has to offer."

While another said: "Glad she never win; would be the worst representation of Jamaica ... by the way, Jamaica not poor, just that the money distributed unequally."

Notably, there were some persons who supported Casserly's depiction of Jamaica. According to some viewers, the beauty was speaking the truth and Jamaicans should quit covering up for the Government's incompetence.

"Truth a guh hurt dem! finally, someone who tells it as it is. You can choose to lie about Jamaica being this sweet place to live, but you would be an idiot to lie to yourself and believe it. Everyone complains about crime, gun violence, corruption, PNP, JLP, mosquito, bad roads, sliding dollar, GCT being so high, police being aligned with gangs, illiteracy rate at its highest, teacher and nurses wage freeze for three years, hospitals not even having basic supplies, people dying on hospital floors because of over crowding ... . If you want to defend your country, then defend your rights and stop accepting mediocrity from the leaders of both parties," a firm supporter of Casserly said.

Casserly finished second to Yendi Phillipps in 2007.
