Reigning rural area champions, St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS), and Clarendon-based Glenmuir High will lock horns in what is expected to be a keenly contested final of the ISSA/Lime Ben Francis KnockOut competition, which will kick off 2:45 p.m. today at the Juici Field in Clarendon Park.

STETHS will be looking to extend their record-setting run in the ISSA/Lime Ben Francis to five consecutive wins. However, they face Glenmuir, a team with a wealth of experience in the competition, having won it six times, the most by any school.

This is another final of historical importance as it comes against the backdrop of the 2012 daCosta Cup finals, where the schools last met on the big stage. Glenmuir clinched a late winner over the STETHS in overtime to lift the daCosta Cup title.

dominant factor

Since 2012, STETHS have been the dominant factor in rural schoolboy football. After beating Clarendon College 6-5 in sudden death penalties in Tuesday's semi-finals the STETHS unit will be confident their main goalscorers Donjay Smith, Sean Genus and Jovoney Brown can land them their first title of the season.

Glenmuir, on the other hand, advanced more comfortably, courtesy of a 2-0 dispatching of Dinthill Technical. The goalscorers were Ricardo Dennis and Garcio Williams. Glenmuir will no doubt face what should be their stoutest test of the season so far. The Clarendon team will be looking to goal getters Ricardo Dennis, Jevaun Ennis and Garcio Williams to lead their charge for the cup.
