MACKA DIAMOND GOES GOSPEL

Macka Diamond and Danny Brownie

International recording artiste Macka Diamond recorded a gospel single called 'Lord Please Answer My Prayer' with heavyweight producer Danny Brownie. The single was recorded on Wednesday at Danny Browne's studio in the Corporate Area.

"It was a great recording session, I have good chemistry with Danny Brownie, he changed some of the lyrics and helped me arrange it. He said he was impressed by how well I delivered the song and how I was able to hit the right notes. I had taken time to write all the lyrics myself for this song, and got the melody while in the shower, one morning. So I went there with a song and he helped make it better and even suggested the deejay part as well," she said.

The song will be released this week. "I felt almost compelled to do it as God has taken me through a lot, especially recently when I was going through a lot of scary health problems because of chikungunya," she said.

She plans to do a music video for the song as well, but there are no immediate plans for her to abandon her secular hardcore content for the gospel arena.

"We never really know the next move that God has for our lives, so let us wait and see," she explained.

Macka Diamond, whose real name is Charmaine Munroe, is not the first hardcore dancehall act to record a gospel single since year.

In May, Vybz Kartel released Ordinary Servant while Vanessa Bling, aka Gaza Slim, scored well with Have Mercy On Me Lord.

Macka leaves the island today to perform in Edmonton tomorrow, and Toronto on November 22 as she continues her musical conquest of Canada.

Macka Diamond has been busy promoting her latest single, Cool And Deadly on the 56 Real Productions label. She recently capped a successful USA tour with stops in Boston, New York, Chicago, Hartford, and other major US cities.
