Since the release of Real Fren, reggae artiste Medician has seen a much-need surge in his music career.

The track, produced jointly by his Southcoast Productions record label and DJ Wally, has gained plenty of airplay on radio and attention in the streets after it was premiered on August 27.

The song is also accompanied by a music video directed by Timothy 'Bad Biggs' Fogah, released on October 15.

The Old Harbour-based singjay, real name Everol Campbell, said he will be using this period of musical bliss as an indication that he can carve out a successful career, something which he has dreamt about from childhood.

"My music inspires, it sends a positive message and everyone can relate to them, both young and old. I have always wanted to make a difference through music, so I am very happy that things are getting better," the artiste said.

Medician first professionally recorded single came in 2010 when he voiced No Left Me and Go for Audio Traxx Records. To date, he has recorded and released other tracks such as Live My Life, Suffer and Make Sure featuring Barbie Ana.

At the moment, the former Tacius Golding High student is working on a 14-track EP and several new singles. Despite this recent surge, however, Medician has labelled his rise to prominence as challenging, but maintained that he will remain determined and focus.

"The challenge was to get my songs played. Things changed a little since Live My Life because disc jockeys now realise that my songs are very good. Another challenge is to voice on the more prominent rhythms," he said.

However, his eyes are firmly fixed on the bigger picture. "I want to be one of the best artistes that Jamaica will look to," he said.
