Rvssian gets platinum plaque |

![]() Contributed Rvssian shows off his award. Chad Bryan, Staff Reporter Producer Tarik Johnston, more popularly known as Rvssian, has earned a platinum plaque for his work on the reggaeton track 'Passion Whine'. Passion Whine was released as a single earlier this year by Puerto Rican recording artiste Farruko and features Sean Paul. The track is featured on the 15-track album called Farruko Presenta: Los Menores. It is the fourth studio album by Farruko. "It's not getting enough play here [Jamaica], I've heard it a few times here but not as much play because it's Spanish and English. Jamaicans are not going to really listen Spanish music but America, Puerto Rico, Costa Rico, Spain and Panama, all over the world have been given it a push," Johnston said. He acknowledged that if a straight English version were done it would take off more in Jamaica. Notwithstanding this, Rvssian is elated at having received the platinum certification, which was issued by the Recording Industry Association of America, a body that monitors records sales in the United States. "It feels good. Hard work pays off. It goes to show that music still can go places. It's just a matter of believing in your product and pushing it," he said. Upcoming projects for the producer include a song with Vybz Kartel along with its video to be released in short order, a Spanish song with Daddy Yankee, and a song with Konshens called Shut Up And Love Me from his album, From theHotel Room. With the year winding down, in retrospect, the producer said he had a good year. |
