Court hears that ... babysitter throws acid on dog

A babysitter who is accused of throwing acid on her common-law husband's dog, greatly injuring the animal, was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer the charges.

Charged with cruelty to animal is a 33-year-old woman of a Kingston 11 address.

The court was told that on October 27, the accused burned the dog, causing injury. A report was made to the police three days following the incident.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, the complainant saw the accused entering his yard. Allegations are that the dog barked at her and she threw acid on him and left.

It is further alleged that the accused and the complainant had an argument, during which she threatened to make his 'skin turn white'.

The accused woman's bail was extended until December 4. The court is awaiting a certificate from the veterinarian.
