The fraud case against People's National Party member Donovan Bisasor and his co-accused Jesse Gosse has been pushed back to December 11 as a statement from a Crown witness remains outstanding.
Bisasor and Gosse are accused of defrauding the State-owned National Water Commission (NWC). They are jointly charged with conspiracy to defraud, forgery, uttering forged documents and demanding property on forged documents. Both men had their bails extended by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey. The Crown is alleging that sometime in January 2011, the NWC awarded a contract to a construction company to perform works on the Barnes Gully in Kingston. It is further alleged that after the works were completed in March that same year, the parties agreed to a sum of more than $27 million, which included payment for providing security at the site. Insufficient sum Bisasor allegedly, indicated afterwards that the sum was insufficient and he was advised to provide documents to substantiate his claim for more money. The Crown is alleging that on August 15 this year, Gosse submitted a letter to the NWC, claiming $7 million for security services provided on the Barnes Gully work site. Checks revealed that the security company in question allegedly was never contacted to work on the project. An investigation was launched and Bisasor and Gosse were subsequently arrested and charged. |
