National midfielder, Jermaine Hue was banned by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) after he missed a Disciplinary Committee meeting at the JFF offices in New Kingston on Saturday afternoon.

In response, Hue said he did not attend the meeting because his lawyer, Jerome Spencer was hit with the widespread chikungunya virus.

Hue also claimed that the JFF was aware of the situation as correspondence was sent that the lawyer would not be available for the meeting.

"Since the meeting I haven't spoken to my lawyer. He has the chik-V and I would not attend without legal representation. I did not go because my lawyer is sick," Hue said yesterday.

A release from the JFF stated that: "On the first of November, 2014 at 2 p.m., the JFF Limited convened a Disciplinary Committee at its headquarters located at 20 St Lucia Avenue.

Repeated communications

"This meeting was to hear matters concerning player, Jermaine Hue, of Harbour View FC. These matters entailed the violation of his Player Contract, specifically sections 6 (d), 14 and 16; and the JFF By-Laws, Article 33 (a); as well as Article 68, paragraph 2 of the FIFA Statutes; directly related to the captioned.

"In spite of repeated communications, neither the player nor his club management has put in an appearance.

"As such player, Jermaine Hue is hereby banned from performing in any football related activity of the JFF in accordance with Article 23 of the JFF Disciplinary Code, until he faces the Disciplinary Committee in keeping with Article 12 of the said Code, which defines to whom sanction as applicable."

Clyde Jureidini, Harbour View general manager said it is a legal matter, so the club won't get involved.

In October, the JFF had ordered Hue to withdraw the civil suit within 48 hours of receipt of the notice to do so, or risk facing sanctions.

Hue had executed a civil suit against the JFF and Dr Fraser with the aim of recovering money he deemed he had lost or failed to earn during the nine-month FIFA ban for a failed drug test at Jamaica's World Cup qualifyer.
