JFF must follow protocols in Hue case |
|||||
![]() Jermaine Hue Jamaica Football Federation President Captain Horace Burrell has indicated that the decision to sanction midfielder Jermaine Hue simply stems from the player's failure to follow protocol. In documents brought before the court last month, the player accused the federation and Fraser of negligence, after an injection administered by the team doctor, during the World Cup Qualifiers last year, led to him serving a 9-month ban after returning a positive test for a banned substance. Hue has sought to recover loss of earnings. The JFF had, however, requested that the player dismiss the legal action within a 48-hour window, and with the request ignored, the player has been ordered to appear before the organisation's disciplinary committee. Next stage It remains unclear, however, as to whether the player will decide to obey the request or not, as he is currently not on the island. "The expiration within 48 hours has passed, and having not come forward, the JFF resorted to the next stage, which was to summon Jermaine to the disciplinary committee. That process took place, and he responded to say he was overseas. The JFF had given him a month, since he was overseas, to indicate the date that he will be available, within seven days. We are hoping that he responds." Burrell says the federation's stance is being pursued based on the player's decision to not follow protocols. "Football has protocols by which we must abide; it's not if we want to or not. We are a part of a global establishment which has rules and regulations; these rules and regulations must be obeyed," Burrell said. "What we are saying is there are certain protocols if you are a part of an organisation. If you operate outside the rules there are penalties, and we are just applying these rules," he added. Although not stating specifics, Hue and his team did indicate that the player had at least attempted to pursue the body's arbitration process but became frustrated.
