Tax agency seized vehicles for non-payment |

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) on Tuesday seized three vehicles from a business place it said owed more than $4 million in PAYE and Education Tax. TAJ says it seized the three company vehicles from Shur Power Generators and Engine and Manufacturing Company Limited. It says the action was taken as the taxpayer had not honoured its obligations and failed to comply with a court order that was issued in 2012. TAJ says it will continue to intensify enforcement and collection efforts to recover outstanding sums, while increasing taxpayer education and improving service delivery. It is urging taxpayers to speak with TAJ to make suitable arrangements if they are faced with difficulties in honouring their tax obligations, to avoid enforcement action. |
