![]() Lady Rennae 'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh' is the latest comedy revue on the local theatre scene. From the international success of its 2013 Cartoon debut, 'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh' is back , this time in the form of a first-of-its-kind theatre production. Created by young entertainment mogul Lady Rennae, the animations' first season garnered viral rave reviews as it was dubbed YouTube's top-10 most-searched-for series for 10 consecutive weeks. Written by Donald 'Iceman' Anderson, Pretty Boy Floyd, Lady Rennae and directed by theatre pioneer David Tulloch, the play is comprised of the cartoon's most hilarious and memorable scenes with a star-studded cast including Actor Boy winners Anderson, Christopher 'Johnny' Daley, Rosie Murray, Suzette 'Back Road' Barrett, Shaun Drysdale and comedian Leighton Smith. Not surprisingly, after a hit review like 'Jamaica Sweet', Tulloch has taken on the formula of real-to-life humour to serve up a potpourri of delightful characters blended with religious undertones. 'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh' is bold and unapologetic in how it takes a humorous jab at some of our cultural stereotypes, local customs and the unique Jamaican experience. 'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh' is designed to amuse all as it has universal comic appeal, stirring hearts with a warm Jamaican feel, enough to entertain the entire family. With various nights already booked out, the show, which opens tonight at Green Gables Theatre, 6 Cargill Avenue, St Andrew, can be seen Fridays to Sundays at 8 p.m. Admission is $1,500. Box office opens Fridays to Sundays, 12 - 6 p.m. |
