![]() A woman who is accused of stabbing her boyfriend after a romp was sent for counselling when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Nineteen-year-old Vanessa Jordan, of a Kingston 13 address, was initially charged with wounding with intent, but had her sentence reduced to unlawful wounding after her boyfriend told the court that she was suffering from post-partum depression. According to reports, on September 22, about 3 p.m., the complainant visited Jordan's home after she sent him a 'Please call me' message. The complainant stated that while there, he used his T-shirt and wrapped it around Jordan's neck and sat on her bottom as he 'rode her like a pony,' while she was on her belly on a bed. He said he proceeded to slap her on her bottom in a playful manner, after which she allegedly turned over and used a knife to stab the complainant in his back. The complainant told the court, however, "we just had a likkle conflict, she confused right now. Since she lost her baby is like me nuh know. Me sorry she neva get no counselling." He also told the court that on the day of the incident, "she come a di house and seh, 'you remember when your son did born' it was supposed to be his birthday." The complainant, who told the court that he spent seven days in hospital because of the stab wound, stated that he no longer wanted to pursue the matter, "me just waa she come home, me kyah sleep. I didn't know she was in custody," he said. Resident Magistrate (RM) Lorna Williams then asked the complainant, "you no longer wish to pursue this matter?" to which he responded, "No!" RM Williams offered Jordan bail in the amount of $40,000 and she is to return to court for mention on November 25. She also ordered that the accused receive counselling. |
