JAMAICAN jockey Andrew Ramgeet finished the July 1 to September 30 racing season at Mountaineer Park in fourth place, with 39 winners behind third-place Luis Rivera on 51 and the duo of Deshawn Parker and Christian Pilares, who dead-heated on 59 wins atop the standings. Ramgeet won the battle for fourth place ahead of Rex A Stokes III, who ended with 36 winners. Though he failed to ride a winner on the closing week, September 26-30, Ramgeet won five races, from September 13 to 24, to secure fourth spot in one of his best seasons at the West Virginia racetrack. Mountaineer's new season got under way Wednesday, October 1, and will conclude December 20. Ramgeet was yet to ride a winner up to Thursday, but will be looking to this weekend to get off the mark. He ended the July 1 to September 30 meet with 39 winners from 260 rides. His mounts earned US$538,530, and he enjoyed a 15 per cent win average, finishing in the top three 117 times for a 45 per cent average. |
