THE MAD BULL EFFECT |

![]() ![]() One of the first columns I ever wrote when 'From My Notebook' began more than 20 years ago was a piece about women's beauty secrets. It drew tons of letters, there was no email back then, and everywhere I went, people who knew me patted me on the back saying that I hit the nail on the head. Several women I know just laughed and said they didn't even realise that they did all those things. I can't lie, it was really great getting that positive feedback because I have never believed that any man can ever truly understand the thinking behind why women do some of the things they do in the name of fashion. I will never complain however, because I love women in high heels, especially when they have nice feet inside those heels. No, sorry, no corns for me, it's not a good look. High heels of course, do cause callouses, but somehow, many women manage to avoid them. My lovely wife is a perfect example. Short dresses are also very lovely. When I say short dresses, I mean those worn by women with nice, long, hairless legs. Yes, I have my biases. A short dress must also leave some things to the imagination. I don't want to see everything that a woman has to offer. Unfortunately, these days, there are too many women out there who feel like all their wares should be on show all the time. Modest attire Do you ever realise that a woman who dresses modestly most times always looks hotter when she dresses up and wears a short, sexy dress every once in a while? It's the rarity that gives her that extra edge, that rare glimpse of what you're really missing. To me, a woman who wears extra short shorts to the supermarket doesn't look any different wearing short shorts when she is out at a party. She might look cleaner, but that's about it. Those two examples are just some of the things I don't understand about some women nowadays. The other thing that gets me is this thing that they're doing with their eyebrows. In the past, women plucked their eyebrows, creating a thin line of hair. Eye shadow (if they still call it that) and other colourful enhancements create the illusion of bigger eyes, which I'll admit is attractive. These days, some women have gone in the opposite direction and replaced those thinned-out eyebrows with thicker lines that make them look like angry bulls. Man, that thing is ugly! Faulty brows So you'll be out and see a woman attractively dressed in super-hot high heels, a nice short dress and eyebrows that make her look peeved. The thing with eyebrows is that they look better when there are two of them. A uni-brow makes a person seem like they a suffering from a defect of some kind. That is why people look less threatening when they separate them. Some of these women should follow suit. Not everything that comes into style, as they say, makes sense. I don't even know how that style came about, but I am willing to bet that someone made a mistake doing some woman's make-up one time and somebody thought it looked cool and ran with it. Suddenly, everybody seems to be doing it and now women just look angry all the time. And then they wonder why they can't keep a man. Men don't like angry-looking women, nobody does.
