Defending champions Jamaica College (JC) will be looking to go six straight wins when they tackle St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) in Group G of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup football competition at the JC football field, Old Hope Road. The game will get under way at 3:30 p.m.

JC come into this fixture with almost perfect statistics: 15 points, with 16 goals scored, while only conceding once. STATHS are on seven points, courtesy of two wins, three losses and one draw. They have scored five goals and conceded the same.

STATHS' precarious position in the table means they must win to advance ahead of Norman Manley High School, second in the group on nine points, and Dunoon Technical fourth with five points.

Dropped points

Jamaica College is among an elite group of teams to have not dropped points. "We definitely want three points. We would love to score more goals in our matches, but we are finding a way to win, so we will go into this game with a very positive mindset," coach of JC Miguel Coley told Star Sports. "I've been rotating the team as much as possible. My boys are ready. We want to take our place in the second round; no complacency," he added. Coley concluded that even though STATHS have been inconsistent, JC will be wary of them.

STATHS coach Keith Nichols knows all too well the challenge awaiting his team. "This is a crucial game for us, as we are seeking a favourable result," Nichols said. "We definitely need to win in order to advance ahead of Norman Manley and Jonathan Grant," he added.

"We started the season fairly well, but the chikungunya virus affected my boys' fitness and ability to play consistently. I just hope we play well and advance to the next round," he concluded.
