Dear Pastor, I am 18 and I am pregnant. The man who got me pregnant is 60. I didn't know that a man that old could get a girl pregnant. I can't tell anybody who got me pregnant. Only my parents and the man and my older siblings know the truth. I blame myself but I also blame my parents. Whenever I asked them for money to go to classes they never gave me. My mother would say, "Ask your father," and my father never had money. His money is to drink white rum and gamble.

This man used to help me and he gave me anything I wanted so we got closer and closer until we started to sleep together. My mother knew that I was sleeping with him but didn't say anything. When I found out that I was pregnant my mother told him that she didn't expect him to get me pregnant. He told her he didn't want that to happen but everything would be alright.

He has seven children with five different babymothers. My father said he should marry me but he said he is not ready for that.

In the first place, let me say that I am sorry to hear that you are pregnant. You were young and naïve and you were not under any proper parental control and guidance. Your mother, you said, knew that you were sleeping with this man and she did not discourage you from doing so, so I consider your mother a very irresponsible woman. She should have discouraged you from becoming involved with this man.

Your father should have done everything in his power to help you to go to school but instead he has wasted his money on alcohol and gambling. He is a disgrace. And the man who impregnated you might feel proud of getting a young girl pregnant.

After you have had the baby, go back to school. I believe you would have learnt to behave yourself. And I am hoping that you will not repeat the same mistake.
