Harbour View can cope with Brown loss |
|||||
|
Harbour View coach Andrew Hines believes the team is well equipped to cope with the absence of star striker Bryan Brown, despite struggling to find the back of the net so far this campaign. Brown, the Premier League's top scorer last season with 19 goals, left the club to join Major League Soccer club Philadelphia Union on loan during the July transfer window, and it would appear the Stars of the East are yet to make the adjustment. The team is not only winless after their first three games, but having scored 46 goals last season, the third most in the league, Harbour View have netted a mere four goals in three games so. "It's a big difference not having a consistent goal scorer in the team, and we have struggled to adjust so far," Hines said. The coach believes a lot of the team's scoring woes could be down to a lack of self-assurance in front of goal. "I think a lot of us not scoring the goals, I think is down to confidence; however, because I think we have been creating the chances but not finishing, and we have quality, do have quality goal scorers that can provide adequate cover." The team's best performance in front of goal so far came in a 3-3 draw against Reno, where the team battled back from two goals down but conceded a late equaliser. On that occasion, John Ross Edwards, Kemar Lawrence and McKaulley Tulloch all found the back of the net, which Hines believes could be a positive trend. "Brian scoring all the goals last season was maybe not such a good thing. We got goals from three different individuals against Reno. We have capable centre forwards in Jermie Lynch and Damion Harwood. These guys are goal scorers, and the season is young; I know that there I see us scoring. |
