![]() ![]() Dear Pastor, I have been a prostitute for 12 years and none of my family members know that I am in that business. I told them that I am working. I feel so bad at times about it and I am unhappy. Unhappy Dear Unhappy, I will tell you a story. I once dealt with a woman who had children and she was practising prostitution and she did so for many years. As the children grew up, she continued. One of her daughters, however, was in the New Kingston area and spotted her mother, beating the street. That was how she found out that her mother was selling sex. That woman did the same thing that you are doing. She got dressed nicely every evening and she told her children and others that she was on night duty but she did not tell them where she was working and what type of work she was doing. And that went on for years until her daughter found out. I do not know whether you have children and whether you are selling your body to support them and yourself. I have taken note, however, that you are unhappy. I consider that to mean that you hate doing that type of work. I, therefore, would suggest that you resolve in your heart to stop and learn to believe in yourself that you can earn money a better way. It might mean that you will have to go back to school to learn a skill and empower yourself so that you can be qualified to get a job. Twelve years is a long time to be selling your body. Go to God in prayer and ask Him to help you to leave this work. Call around and ask friends to help you to find a job. I wish you well. I will be praying for you. Pastor |
