Bugle...True Musical Genius

Each generation needs a voice for the people, shedding light on the issues that touch the common man. Well, Bugle is that voice. A man of the people for the people, singer/songwriter Bugle launched his musical career in 2000. A chance meeting with international dancehall artiste Elephant Man in Kingston, Jamaica led to a long career of penning hits including All Out, which was featured in the internationally recognised Puma commercial starring Usain Bolt. Bugle fondly remembers touring with the self-proclaimed 'Energy God', making appearances on BET's 106 & Park and the MTV Awards red carpet.

However, being the man behind the music wasn't enough for the ambitious singer whose lyrics possessed the gift of insight. Bugle's rise to the spotlight arrived in 2007, when his collaboration with well-known production house, DASECA Productions birthed his first number one single.

The socially conscious track Exercise (What I'm Gonna Do) became a massive hit, topping charts throughout Caribbean, and landing on airwaves across the United States. The song not only showcased Bugle's inspired writing abilities, but also his deep, soulful voice. Fans were instantly hooked.

His reputation preceding him, Bugle continued to flesh out his musical résumé, working with industry notables like Bounty Killer, Julian Marley, Assassin, Etana, Tarrus Riley and Mavado.

Performance wise, Bugle has toured Japan, US, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. He has performed at some of the biggest reggae music festivals, including Jamaica's Reggae Sumfest and Sting.

Bugle along with Assassin, Lady Saw and Jah Cure will be among the acts that will perform on September 25 at the National Arena for the Arthur Guinness Concert.

See features next week on some of the other acts who will be performing.
