Foreign Connect releases Concord rhythm |

![]() File from left: Thugsy Malone, Jah Vinci, Don Husky, Navino US-based independent label Foreign Connect has signalled a clear intent to be a major player with the well-produced Concord rhythm, which has been released on iTunes. Blak Ryno leads off the Concord rhythm with Born As A Winner. Ryno's declaration that "man a winner" seems fitting given the fact that he upset Kiprich during a much-publicised clash at Sting 2013. The best line on the single is, "Dem a pray fi mi dead inna one war /Yu a pray fi mi crash inna one car/but mi a pray fi mi live till God come and go weh and come again, star." Navino impresses with the soulful Battlefield, which allows the artistes to use war metaphors to describe the journey of life and its various challenges. From the very first line of Love Song, when Jahvinci asks: "Yu ever meet a gal weh mek yu feel different?", the listener realises that one about to hear a tour de force of a song from one of reggae-dancehall's finest artistes. Talented artiste Kibaki shows great promise with My Girl, which has a catchy chorus, and shows off a pretty decent flow on the verses. Reggae stalwart Fantan Mojah shows his versatility with Friend Enemy Them and Munga brings his brilliant wordplay to More Time Inna Life. One of the best songs on this beat belongs to ultra-talented artiste Thugsy Malone, who delivers Beat Up, swinging perfectly in the groove of the rhythm. Thugsy Malone boasts about his sexual prowess as a 'Joe Grind', using domino and bike metaphors with great, sometimes humorous effect. Rookie artiste Essprado teams up with talented Mr Pepper for First Hail Dem A Play, a decent effort which shows that Essprado has a solid turn of phrase . All in all, the Concord rhythm takes off and could land safely on Billboard if it gets the right FM support.
