Torres excited by AC Milan challenge

Fernando Torres says he hopes to emulate AC Milan's great strikers, noting that it was a privilege to join the Italian giants. The Spain international joined the Rossoneri on Friday on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea, where he failed to replicate his goal-scoring success during his time at Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.

However, the striker, who watched from the stands as his new team romped to an impressive 3-1 win over Lazio on Sunday, says he his looking towards rediscovering his goalscoring form at AC Milan under the guidance of one of the game's best goalscorers in history, Pippo Inzaghi.

"Everything goes so fast during the first few days," he told reporters. "I've been to Milanello, met the staff and the rest of the players."

"I saw the match against Lazio and I hope that with me in the team we can be a bit stronger."

"You don't need to go to the museum here to learn about how great this club is. I've seen Milan win so many trophies, so it's a great honour and privilege to be here."

"I want to take advantage of this opportunity. It is a challenge that I needed. I'm really happy to be here."

"I can't wait to get started. I played in La Liga, the Premier League and now I am playing in my third important European League."

"I want to score the goals that can take this club back up with the best around."

"Every player is different, but [Van Basten, Weah and Inzaghi] defined an era. I want to achieve the same results as them."

"I am different from those players, but maybe in a few years' time, they'll have my No. 9 in the museum."

The forward then commented on Pippo Inzaghi, and Serie A as a League.

"We all know what Inzaghi was like as a player, and now he is demonstrating his passion and desire on the touchline."

"I want to learn from him and I'm sure he'll help me integrate into this team."

"In Europe, historically, there has been three big Leagues - England, Spain and Italy. There are times when one gets the better of another, but they are all important."

"Everyone here wants to win. We want to be near the top of the table, and on a personal note, I am expecting myself to have a big season."

"Milan can do well and return to Europe; I have no doubts about that."
