The St Ann police on Monday laid charges against the man accused of the brutal killing of a two-year-old boy in the community of Lewis near St Ann's Bay last Thursday.

Charged with murder and wounding with intent is 42-year-old Devon Jarrett.

THE STAR gathered that he is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

Jarrett is accused of slashing the throat of Jayheim 'Jay' Cooper and injuring another man.

There have been conflicting reports that Jarrett is mentally ill which have alarmed residents.

They have said, before Thursday's fatal incident, Jarrett had never shown signs of such.
