Diandra Grandison, Staff Reporter

Twenty-six-year-old Rohan Dennisis hoping that a DNA test is his ticket home, after he was forced to leave his community due to an ongoing dispute surrounding the paternity of 26-year-old Shanique Bowens' 10-month-old daughter.

Dennis and Bowen's relationship started when they were introduced to each other through a mutual friend while in primary school over a decade ago. Their relationship blossomed in their teens. The pair told THE STAR that they had separated and reunited last year after they bumped into each other at a party.

But despite being in a relationship with other people, the pair began seeing each other, with both pointing fingers at each other, stating that the other person was not honest about their relationship status.

Bowen: "We met at a party last year and I saw him and went and danced with him whole night, and from there, we started again. I didn't even know he had a girlfriend, it was a while after somebody came to me and said how I dancing with the people dem man ... the girl also lives in the community."

Dennis: "We used to be together eight years ago, then we got back together last year. She was with someone else and she didn't tell me."

THE STAR asked the pair if they are still in relationship.

Bowen: "Our relationship isn't official, it's just sex, we are just having sex, he has his girlfriend but that didn't stop us from having sex, 'cause we were having sex before they got together."

Dennis: "No, we are not in a relationship."

THE STAR asked the pair what caused the doubts about the paternity of Bowen's daughter.

Bowen: "The DNA doubts came about because his girlfriend went to my boyfriend and said that the baby is not his, but belongs to Rohan."

Dennis: "I found out that she was basically living with someone else, then shortly after, she told me she was pregnant, so I was like, how would I know is mine? When the child was born she wouldn't let me around the child, saying that the guy was there during the pregnancy so it's only fair to give the guy."

The child is registered in Bowen's now ex-boyfriend's name.

The pair told THE STAR that both of their relationships have been drastically affected by the doubts and even more so for Dennis, as it has placed a strain on not only his relationship with his girlfriend, but also his mother, and has even forced him to leave his community.

Bowen: "Me and my boyfriend broke up, it has seriously affected our relationship."

Dennis: "Me and my girlfriend not together, she won't speak to me until after the DNA done, and this has also affected my relationship with my parents; they don't really talk to me, my mom calling me worthless and a sperm donor."

He continued: "I even had to move out of the community because of the drama and people saying I'm not taking care of my youth and my mom refuse to let me move back until I get the DNA results."

When asked whom the child resembles, the pair declared:

Bowen: "People saying that she looks like me, then they say she looks like my boyfriend, then they say she looks like Rohan."

Dennis: "People in her community say the child look like me, I kinda think she, does, too."

Both told THE STAR that they have mixed feelings about what they would like the outcome of the results to be.

Bowen: "I don't even know what I want, I don't have a problem with either of them getting the baby because they both want the baby."

Dennis: "I'm having mixed feelings, but honestly, I'm hoping it's mine."
